Pinball Arcade: The Twilight Zone. (Or, help preserve Bally's "Twilight Zone" for future generations)

I play a cross-platform game called The Pinball Arcade. Farsight Studios have taken a huge step to preserve modern Pinball game history by digitising popular Bally, Williams, Gottlieb, and STERN pinball tables. Each month, the team manage to release two new tables for about $5. Across all supported platforms (barring release constraints of the various App stores).

Here's what the gameplay looks like, from the launch video.

Those who are into playing pinball on their PCs (and I'm talking Windows only, due to the requrement of VBA) might be thinking this is just some cheap ripoff of the work already done in pinMAME, and Visual Pinball. I thought this as well when I first saw the app get featured in the Google Play store. I knew this was not the case as soon as I downloaded the first version featuring: Tales of the Arabian Nights; Ripley's Believe It Or Not; Black Hole; and Theater of Magic.

Today, I had this confirmed in the video that is the subject of this blog post (3:56 long).

After viewing the video, take a few minutes to view the entry on the IPDB and you can start to appreciate why Farsight Studios simply *has* to use Kickstarter for this project. (watch the 15 minute presentation on the Kickstarter project. The effort involved is truly insane).

Jay Obernolte is appealing to those of us who are passionate about Pinball to consider chipping in a few bucks and get the required amount of funds (at this stage $55,000 in licensing and legal fees!) to digitize and preserve the highest ranked pinball on the Internet Pinball Database: The Twilight Zone

I would appeal to you that even if you don't own the game, you consider throwing a few bucks their way. What they are doing for the longevity of Pinball is truly staggering, and worthy of financial backing.
