Nokia Panorama

Those who follow me on twitter will be well aware of my passion for the Nokia Panorama app for the Nokia N8.

This free app lets you take multi-shot panoramas, and stitches them together for you right before your eyes.

I've been taking some shots from our bridges in the Brisbane CBD. The bridges offer excellent panorama opportunities of the river, and have really allowed me to test the capabilities of the app.

Here are some examples.  No photoshop. Click the image for the original size version.

If you look closely, you'll see a stitching imperfection in the image.  This is not Nokia Panorama's fault: it is the photographers. ;).  This was the first image I took with Nokia Panorama.  It was about to bucket down rain and I rushed it.  I needed to be standing in the center of the Go-Between Bridge so the pan angle wasn't so acute.

For those of you who are interested in how this bridge was constructed, I managed to find this youTube video (not sure where Part 1 is). For those who live locally, it is a bit of a trip back in time.

Love the quote at the end of the video:
Bridges, like friendships, link people together.  Friendships, like bridges, if well built, are long lasting. Transfield, by their work, have done both in Brisbane.

Brisbane River in Flood: State Library of Queensland and the Gallery of Modern Art
This picture was taken at the very beginning of the 2011 Brisbane Floods.  The water is over the walkway in the right of the image. The bridge in the main part of the image is the Victoria Bridge. The 2011 Brisbane Floods rose half way up the bridge pylons.

Brisbane River after 2011 Brisbane Flood waters receded
The striking thing about this image is the high water mark on the William Jolly Bridge (Grey Street Bridge). Look closely and you can see the brown stains evident of high water mark the river reached. This image was taken from the Kurilpa Bridge.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures.  They won't be the last I take with Nokia Panorama.
