Twitter clients tested for S60 3rd Edition Mobile Phones

The main problem that a lot of Symbian mobile phone users have to face regularly is that there aren’t many Twitter clients for S60. Most of the mobile phone users like to tweet on the go, using the mobile version of Twitter but if they don’t subscribe an unlimited plan it’s getting very expensive. The solution would be finding a way to consume less data rather than using the mobile web Twitter version.

We have been tested some new Twitter S60 clients and this some of the best we meet on our way.

Gravity is the first S60 compatible Twitter client and one of the most popular among Twitter users on Symbian devices. You can subscribe for a full version at $9.95, or a trial version (with less features) and it supports numerous accounts such as Twitter Search and Laconica, and you can post pictures via MobyPicture and Twitpic (both largely recommended by a lot off users). Gravity has also a very good user interface but it consumes quiet a lot of data and it’s better if you have an unlimited data usage plan.

Twibble is a totally free Java application with less features than Gravity. For example you can’t find your friends or followers. You still can see users profiles and check when you have a new follower. The advantage is that it consumes far less data than some more complete clients.

We can consider Twittix as one of the best Twitter S60 3rd Edition Twitter client, with features similar to Gravity. There is even one feature making Twittix better than Gravity which is that you can forward tweets as a SMS to any of your contacts (either present on Twitter or not). Twittix is also compatible with S60 5th edition devices like Nokia 5800 Xpress Music.

The last mobile Twitter client we tested is Twim. Twim runs on devices that are compatible with Java MIDP 2.0 and allows you to browse history, replies, friends, direct messages and more.
